ADVENTURE
TIME After-School Camp Sessions
Free
NSC after-school camp is for low income, latchkey students
in grades K-6. ADVENTURE TIME meets in the lower level Youth
Center of Spring Valley United Methodist Church until 6:00
p.m., Monday-Friday on days consistent with the Richardson
Independent School District calendar. The camp focuses on
providing a fun, safe, caring, informal educational and
recreational day camp program. Each year over 100 students
build positive self-concepts and develop skills and values,
which will provide healthy development – mentally,
physically, and socially.
Activities
are designed to meet the needs and abilities of different
age groups and individuals. Some of the more popular activities
include arts and crafts, sports and games, music and drama,
tutoring, Scouts, reading, computers, field trips, and snacks.
NSC volunteers and professional staff work together in
order to provide an adult-child ratio of 1:5.

MY
TIME Teen Camp Sessions
A daylong
camp with three 3-week sessions for 6th-12th graders, 9:00
a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday during the
summer. NSC developed this camp as its first youth program
to address the problems of latchkey children, crime, victimization,
juvenile delinquency, and gang activity. It utilizes the
lower level of Spring Valley United Methodist Church to
provide a gathering place with appropriate supervision.
The camp offers a sense of belonging and support, with age
appropriate and appealing programs, utilizing area resources
and organizations to expand and enrich program options.
In addition to NSCI staff, City of Dallas Recreation Centers
at Fretz Park and Campbell Green often provide staff to
coordinate recreation activities.
Activities
coordinated by NSC include swimming, arts and crafts, team
and individual sports, drama and plays, fun classes, career
information, special guests, high tech and science, cooking,
and trips. Campers sign NSCI’s Behavior Contract,
pay a $4.50 registration fee, and attend camp free.

DOBIE
PRIMARY After-School Program Sessions
An
enrichment program provided in cooperation with Dobie Primary
and NSC as part of the citywide Dallas Park & Recreation
Department after-school focus. Each year, this program is
free to kindergarten and first graders. Students must attend
Dobie Primary.

Tweens After-School Camp Sessions
Free
NSC after-school camp is for low income single mothers, latchkey girls
in grades 5-6. Tweens meets in the cafeteria at Carolyn Buhkair until 5:30
p.m., Monday-Friday on days consistent with the Richardson
Independent School District calendar. The camp focuses on
providing a fun, safe, caring, informal educational and
recreational day camp program. Each year 20 girls
build positive self-concepts and develop skills and values,
which will provide healthy development – mentally,
physically, and socially.
Activities
are designed to meet the needs and abilities of 5-6 grade girls. Some of the more popular activities
include arts and crafts, sports and games, music and drama,
tutoring, reading, computers, field trips, and snacks.
