Program
Specialists: Enjoy
working with elementary aged, multi-cultured children challenged
by the special needs of poverty. You may select from cooking, story
telling, arts & crafts, ecology, drama, needlework, and grooming,
and more. Small group interaction. Mon-Fri, 4:30 - 5:30 pm, school
year; 10:00 - 11:00 summers.
Soccer
League: Volunteers
are needed to coach, assist or referee in low-cost, multi-cultured
soccer leagues for Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, and Under 14. Teams
practice at least once a week, with games on Saturday and occasionally
Sunday at area parks and recreation centers. Coaches set practice
times. Volunteers are needed for Spring and Fall seasons.
Tutoring:
Homework helpers
needed for students in grades K-6, Mon-Fri, 4:30 - 6:00 pm. Volunteers
may elect to work exclusively with helping children learn to read
or computer skills.
Scouting
Program: Assist
Scout leaders with Girl Scouts, Brownies, or Cub Scouts, Wednesday
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Adventure
Time and Dobie After-School Programs:
Help children learn to communicate in an environment of mutual respect
without hitting or put-downs, as you assist with fun camping & educational
activities. Monday - Friday, 3:00 - 6:00 pm.
Librarian:
Select your own
time Mon-Fri, 9:00 am - 2:30 pm to update and catalog books for
children’s library.
My Time
Teen Camp: Summer
program for 6th - 10th graders. Volunteers and professional staff
are needed to work together to provide programs needed for healthy
development of youth. You may teach self-reliance skills and/or
develop self esteem or an introduction into new fields of knowledge.
Data
Entry: Knowledge
of personal computers. Update database, improve records system.
Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
High
Tech Programs: Enjoy
hands-on math and science programs as you accompany small groups
of students for 2-hour sessions.
Summer
Reading:
Enjoy reading with multi-cultured children during June and July,
11:30 - 12:30 at Cottonwood Park - Dallas.
NSC
Administrative: Assist
with providing support for children and youth programs. Opportunities
include typing, mailings, program registrations, supplies, scrapbook
assembly and general telephoning. Mon-Fri, flexibility in scheduling.
Choir
Director: Lead
music program for ages K-6th grades once a week. Mon, Tues, Thurs,
or Fri, 4:00 - 5:00 pm. Performs several times during the year.
Marketing:
Help prepare
Holiday Cards created by area children for Art Show and distribution.
Seasonal opportunities October through December.
Development:
Enjoy working
on fund-raising activities, proposals, and events. Also, opportunities
to work at For Goodness Sake on behalf of NSC.
Special
Events: Assist
with special programs scheduled throughout the year by helping plan
or assist with registration, food service, children’s programs,
child care or workshop monitor. Opportunities include Annual Meeting,
Carnival, Parenting Workshops, Family Nites and field trips. You
may choose to work on one or more event. (See Special Events Calendar
