Dear Friends:

Neighborhood Service Council is in the business of expanding kids' horizons and making Richardson and North Dallas a better place to live. We do it because we love our community and because we want a great future for our children.

In the years since 1989, when NSC first opened its doors, we have worked together to transform our neighborhood. Together, we are helping at-risk children and youth grow into responsible citizens in a safe environment. This is no small feat with an escalating number of low-income families in need of access to low-cost programs and services.

With mounting demands for NSC's services, we endured many challenges in 2007. However, though the dedication of our many volunteers, our talented staff and the generous support of so many caring community members, we reached out and continued to make a difference by:

Successfully implementing the Tweens program, which provides support and education for fifth- and sixth-grade girls from single-parent homes during a time in their lives when they need it most. In this inaugural year of the program, more than 50 girls participated.
Continuing our community outreach through the Adventure Time, My Time and Family Nite programs.
Reorganizing the NSC Board, staff and volunteers to better serve the organization.
Negotiating the relocation our programs in order to serve more students.

It is with mixed emotions that I step down from my position as NSC President and turn over the reins to the experienced and extremely capable hands of L.L Cotter, long-time NSC friend, board member and volunteer. In the three years that I have served as President, I have seen this organization through many changes.

I look forward to the direction and renewed vigor that L.L. brings. With his leadership and your help, NSC will continue to do what it does best: bringing neighbors together to identify solutions while providing the resources needed to improve lives. I'm looking forward to a great year and your continued support!.
